LG G6 in India

We know about LG, a very successful company in field of electronic devices. And in smartphone market it is also very renowned. It launches it's smartphone in every price segment that are budget, mid range and flagship. LG has two flagship series that is G series and V series. It's last smartphone from V series was LG V20 and now it's time for G series. Last year at MWC it announced LG G5 which is based on modular concept smartphone. And now it's time for 6th generation of LG's flagship that is LG G6. LG announced this smartphone at MWC 2017 this year at Barcelona. But this smartphone is not a modular smartphone because modules add extra cost to the smartphone and it has other cons too. So it didn't get too well and that's why the company ditches this in the next generation. LG launched LG G6 in India on 24th of April. So let's see some of the specs of the phone.

The design of LG G6 is really interesting. The design of the phone looks really premium. The most interesting feature of the device is it's display. LG wants to put a bigger display in this but at the same time it also wants this device to be used with one hand. So the only solution to this is reducing the bezels of the smartphone keeping the size same. This will increase the size of the display. So LG has implemented this in LG G6 and so it called this display as Full Vision display. The display looks really good on the smartphone. It has very thin bezels. The display has resolution of 1440*2880 pixels. So it has an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display is protected by corning gorilla glass 3 on front. The phone is also having always on display just like Samsung S8. Also in the device we can split the screen in two perfectly squares due to it's full vision display.

Back is also made of glass this time. The back is protected by corning gorillas glass 5 for protection against drops. The back can get fingerprints also, so it will make the phone smudged to hold and also the phone will be slippery to hold. So it's an advice to use a case with the phone. An aluminum frame runs around the two glass panels. The phone is actually not having a dedicated power on/off button, it is actually embedded in the fingerprint sensor. At back the phone is having a fingerprint sensor and dual rear camera. Also the phone is resistant to water and dust.
So overall the LG has worked well on it's flagship smartphone and provided such a good design.

LG G6 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 chipset. This chipset is based on a quad core processor with four kryo cores cloaked at 2.35 GHz and other four kryo cores cloaked at 1.6 GHz. LG has chosen previous version of Snapdragon's high end chipset, as it's latest version is Snapdragon 835. The reason behind this is that Samsung had already signed a contract with Qualcomm to provide the first batch of Snapdragon 835 to it so that it can put it in Samsung S8+. And LG launched LG G6 at the time of MWC, so may be at that time there would be shortage of Snapdragon 835 as first batch was taken by Samsung.
By the way Snapdragon 821 is also a very good chipset. It was used in many flagship smartphones last year such as One Plus 3T, Google Pixel and Xiaomi mi 5S. The chipset is good one, it can perform all the tasks without any issues. The performance is buttery smooth. So the general performance of the device will be very smooth, there won't be any lags whatsoever in day to day usage. Also there won't be any delays in opening apps.
For graphic intensive tasks the phone is powered by Adreno 530 GPU. This GPU is capable of handling all the graphic intensive tasks without any issues. So the phone can play all the heavy games like Asphalt 8, Nova 3 and Modern Combat 5 without any lags or frame drops. So the gaming performance of the device will also be really good. So for performance there won't be any issues.
Operating System
LG G6 has it's own operating skin which is based on Android Nougat 7.0.1. The operating system is alike all other LG phones. The OS here is a little bit different from stock android. It is little bit difficult to use for a person who is coming from a device which has stock android. For finding a thing in settings you have to put a little bit more effort because it is something to find in a maze. But the usage of the device will be good. There won't any issues or lags in general usage of the device as mentioned earlier.

LG G6 is having dual rear camera of 13 MP. In these two camera sensors, one is having f/1.8 aperture lens with OIS, 3-axis optical zoom and PDAF and other one is having f/2.4 aperture lens. Among these two camera sensors one is a simple color sensor but the other one is the sesnor huh can capture wide photos. LG has applied this dual camera technology first time in LG G5 and then in LG V20. The camera performance of the device will be really good. As the other two are also among the best camera phones last year. This camera can record videos upto 4K @30fps. It can also record 1080p videos @30/60fps.
LG G6 has a 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture. This can record videos upto 1080p only. So this year I hope that LG G6 will again come in some of the best camera phones.

 Battery life
LG G6 has a non removable battery of 3300 mah. The battery life of the phone will be good enough to last for one day as seen from the amount of battery provided. The battery life of the device totally depends upon optimization done. So it won't be right to comment anything about the battery life of the device without using it. It can only be revealed by any end user of LG G6.

LG G6 is having all the basic sensors such as gyro, proximity, accelerometer, barometer, fingerprint, autobrightness and compass. It is not having iris scanner and heart rate sensor like Samsung galaxy S8. The fingerprint scanner is back mounted and it also acts as a power on/off button. The fingerprint scanner is very fast, it immediately unlocks the phone as soon as we touch the finger.

Final verdict

LG G6 is priced at 52000 INR and is available at Amazon. Amazon is also providing cashback/off on this phone on HDFC/SBI credit/debit cards. So the user can get this at around 46000 INR only. It will compete with those of Samsung Galaxy S8 and iphone 7 which are also in the same price range. This time LG has priced it's phone very aggressively. We can grab this phone at around 46000 INR by applying all the offers. So it is priced around 10000 INR less than the Samsung Galaxy S8 which is priced at 58000 INR. But there are some shortcomings too in this phone. This is not having the latest version of Qualcomm's Snapdragon high end chipset that is Snapdragon 835. This is also having some sensors less than S8. So these are some of the basic differences between the two. They both have good cameras. Both run on Android Nougat. But the display will be better on Samsung S8 as it has an AMOLED display and also have that edge display with very thin bezels which makes the phone very premium to look at. So LG G6 is not a bad deal at 46000 INR. The pricing is very aggressive this time from LG.
