Xiaomi Mi 5x and MIUI 9

So Xiaomi has announced the upcoming version of it's customized android Operating System that is MIUI 9. Last year company launched MIUI 8 and now it's time for the MIUI 9. Xiaomi announced MIUI 9 in an event at Beijing, China. MIUI 9 comes with a lot of new features so let's discuss all these one by one.
 
 
Xiaomi is saying that apps will load faster in MIUI 9. There will be Dynamic resource allocation technology which helps in opening apps faster. This feature will give priority to the apps which are running in the foreground thus providing them more RAM and power to open quickly. This will help in improving stability and performance of the apps. Thus increasing the overall performance of the device.
 
The next feature is of split screen, in which you can use multiple apps on the same screen by decreasing their window size. This feature is already available in Nougat but it will now be available in Xiaomi devices too.
 
 
All other features will be exclusive to china only for now as they rely on language recognition. The first feature is of image search in the gallery through which we can search images based on one of the feature of that image, like there is 'cat' in the image, so if we search cat it will show all the images having cat in them from our gallery.
 
The next feature is smart app launcher, which will launch an app immediately if required. Like if someone is asking for our location, we will be able to open the navigation app directly from the messaging screen. The next feature is smart assistant which will be rival to Google's assistant and Siri.
 
 
In India, Redmi Note 4 will be the first device to get this MIUI 9 beta version in the month of August. All other devices will get beta version in the next months.
 
At this event Xiaomi also launched a new smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 5x. Mi 5x is powered by Qualcomm snapdragon 625 chipset. We all know that the chipset is really good in performance as we have already seen the performance of Redmi Note 4 which also has the same chipset.
 

 
Mi 5x looks very similar to the apple iPhone 7 from the back as it is having same type of metallic back and the camera placement as that of iPhone 7. So the design of the device is very good. Mi 5x is having 5.5 inch IPS LCD display. The resolution of the display is full HD.
 
 
The next thing is that the phone is having dual 12MP rear camera. In which one sensor is having 1x zoom with f/2.2 aperture lens while other is having 2x zoom with f/2.6 aperture lens. The phone is having 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Mi 5x will be powered by MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. Also the phone will be having 3080mah battery.
 
Mi 5x looks like a advanced version of Redmi Note 4 as it is having dual camera setup and new design. This phone is priced at 1499 RMB in China. The availability of the device in India is unclear as Xiaomi launch only few phones in India.

Nokia 8 rumors

 Nokia is again in news of releasing another device this year which will be it's flagship device. Nokia has already released Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. And now it's turn for Nokia 8. It will be the flagship phone from Nokia. The company is planning to launch Nokia 8 on August 16th. There are many rumors of this smartphone before it's official announcement. So today we will see, what are the expected specifications of Nokia 8.


Nokia 8 is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 835 chipset. We all know about this chipset. Many other flagships such as Samsung S8 and OnePlus 5 are also powered by the same chip. This is based on an octa core processor with four kryo cores cloaked at 2.35 GHz each and other four kryo cores cloaked at 1.9 GHz each. The chipset is very good in performance. It can handle all the tasks with any lags. The processing of the phone will be super fast, as it will be powered by snapdragon 835. As it will be powered by Adreno 540 GPU, the game performance of the phone will also be really good.


The display of the phone will be around 5.3 inch. The resolution of the display will be 2K. But it isn't clear whether the panel of the display will be an IPS LCD or AMOLED panel. But the quality of the screen will be good as the resolution will be 2K. Also the phone will be good for VR headsets. The glass on the front is rumored to be 2.5D.

Nokia 8 will be having dual camera setup with 13MP sensors. Also there will be support for Carl Zeiss optics. The phone will have 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The phone is rumored to have 64GB of storage. There will be dual SIM models also. But it isn't clear whether the phone will support microSD or not.


As this will be a flagship phone, the design of the phone will be premium. Nokia 8 will have a metal body, it will have a bar type design. The phone will look like a rectangular chocolate bar. The phone will come in gold/copper color. There will be other colors too, but one that leaks out is this one.

Now the most important thing price, Nokia 8 is expected to be priced around $675. HMD is sending out invites for the global launch of the phone. The launch event will held in London on August 16. All the specs mentioned above are just rumors. All things will be clear on August 16.

Honor 8 pro or OnePlus 5

Honor 8 pro or OnePlus 5



Honor is a Sub Brand of smartphone company Huawei. Honor was launched by Huawei for budget smartphones but it is no longer a brand for budget smartphones. It also has mid range smartphones like Honor 8. But now it's time for Honor 8 pro. Honor 8 pro was launched back in april in UK. And now it has made it's presence in India too. Honor launched Honor 8 pro in India on 7th of July. The phone is priced at around $470 in India. At this price it is in a tough competition with OnePlus 5. So today we are gonna compare these smartphones and tell you which one is better between these two. 

Processing



Both these smartphones have great chipset, Honor 8 pro is powered by Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset which is based on an octa core processor with four cortex A-73 cores cloaked at 2.4 GHz each and four cortex A-53 cores cloaked at 1.8 GHz each while OnePlus 5 is powered by famous Snapdragon 835 chipset which is based on an octa core processor with four kryo cores cloaked at 2.45 GHz each and other four kryo cores cloaked at 1.9 GHz each. Both these chipsets are really good and have very good performance. But if i have to pick one, i will definitely go with Snapdragon 835 which is better than Hisilicon Kirin 960. Snapdragon 835 is built on 10 nm architecture which is very power efficient. Snapdragon 835 has kryo cores which are definitely better than cortex A-73 and cortex A-53. So the performance will be better on OnePlus 5. But it doesn't mean that performance of Honor 8 pro will be bad, just OnePlus 5 have comparatively better performance. OnePlus 5 is powered by Adreno 540 GPU while Honor 8 pro is powered by Mali G71 MP8. Here also Adreno 540 is better than Mali G71 for graphic intensive tasks like playing heavy games.

Display



Honor 8  pro has 5.7 inch display size while OnePlus 5 has 5.5 inch display size. OnePlus 5 has an AMOLED type display while Honor 8 has IPS LCD type display. Honor 8 pro has a 2K resolution while OnePlus 5 has a full HD resolution. So here the clear winner is Honor 8 pro as it is having a 2K display which in all terms will be better than a full HD display. The major difference can be seen when using VR headsets with these smartphones. Honor 8 pro will have VR advantage due to it's 2K display.

Camera



Both these smartphones have dual rear camera setup. OnePlus 5 has a 16 MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture + 20 MP telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. Honor 8 pro is having dual 12 MP sensors with f/2.2 aperture. I think in good lightening conditions both these phones perform really well. But i think the problem will occur in low lightening conditions with the Honor 8 pro as it is having f/2.2 aperture lens while OnePlus 5 is having f/1.7 aperture lens which is wider and will allow more light to enter the camera lens. 
Honor 8 pro has OIS while OnePlus 5 is having EIS, so video recording will be more stable in Honor 8 pro's camera. Both these cameras can shoot videos upto 4K. Honor 8 pro is having a 8 MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture lens while OnePlus 5 is having 16 MP f/2.0 aperture secondary camera. According to me both these cameras will be good in clicking good pictures. But video recording with front camera will be more stable in OnePlus 5 as it is having EIS. 

Design



Honor 8 pro and OnePlus 5 both have premium designs. Both these smartphones have metallic designs. So the built quality of both these smartphones is really good. Honor 8 pro has 5.7 inch screen size while OnePlus 5 has 5.5 inch screen size. Honor 8 pro is just 7 mm thick while OnePlus 5 is 7.3 mm thick. Honor 8 pro appears to be slightly wider than OnePlus 5. So it will be slightly difficult to hold than OnePlus 5. OnePlus 5 has an alert slider on left side while Honor 8 pro isn't having. Both these smartphones are having 3.5 mm headphone jack. Honor 8 pro is having IR blaster while OnePlus 5 skimps on it. 

Battery



Honor 8 pro is having 4000 mah battery while OnePlus 5 is having 3300 mah battery. So battery life of Honor 8 pro will be definitely better than OnePlus 5. But both these phones can easily last up for a day. The charging speed will be better on OnePlus 5 as it is having dash charging which can charge OnePlus 5 fully just in one hour. Honor 8 pro also supports quick charging 3.0 but it isn't as fast as dash charging on OnePlus 5. Dash charging is the most fast charging technology in the smartphone market right now.


Internal storage and RAM


 Honor 8 pro comes with 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. OnePlus 5 comes in two varients one with 6GB of RAM, 64GB internal and the other with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage. Honor 8 pro has hybrid slot so memory can be expanded in it while in OnePlus 5 memory can't be expanded as it isn't having any slot for micro sd. Buying a 6GB of RAM varient of OnePlus 5 is enough, because 6GB is also ample amount of RAM.

Pricing


Honor 8 pro is priced at around $470 in India while in other countries it is priced around $620. So due to this pricing it is in direct competition with OnePlus 5 which is priced at around $500 for 6GB RAM model while 8GB RAM model is priced around $600. But no phone among these is a perfect phone. Every phone has it's ups and downs and so these phones have. So it only depend upon priorities which phone to buy.

Hydrogen One- A Holographic Android Phone

We all know about company 'Red', which is an american based company prominent for making photography cameras and accessories. But now the company has shown it's plans of entering into smartphone market. It has shown some hints of it's upcoming smartphone, 'Hydrogen One'. Hydrogen One is a really unique kind of smartphone. This smartphone will have a unique kind of display, which will produce 3D imaging without using any other device with it. 

There will not be any need of carrying any other device for producing 3D effects in your smartphones. The phone will be able to switch display between normal 2D display and new 3D display. The company is calling this kind of display as Holographic display.
 A holographic display is something which can produce 3D effects on the display without connecting any special glasses or other equipments.

Also Hydrogen One will be of modular type, extra mods can be added to the camera which will enhance the photography experience. It will also help in capturing 3D type of photos and videos. The Phone will also be compatible with Red's Camera setup like Scarlet, EPIC and weapon.

Also the company will embed an algorithm in OS of Hydrogen One
which will covert stereo sound to multi directional audio. In this way it will enhance the audio output the device. Also the phone will support some interactive media like games and videos which will produce a great user experience. 

For now we don't know any other specs of Hydrogen One. The phone will be running on Android, have 5.7 inch screen, have a USB Type-C port and have an expandable storage. All other specs are still not known. But there will be two versions of this Hydrogen One that are Aluminium and other Titanium which company has already confirmed. Aluminium version will cost $1200 and Titanium version will cost $1600. 

The shipment of  Hydrogen One will start in the Q1 of 2018. With this phone the company is trying to do some innovative thing. Company knows that VR and AR are becoming very popular these days, so company has announced a smartphone based on these which will support interactive media.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 chipset

Qualcomm has announced it's new chipset at an event at MWC which was held at China. This chipset is Snapdragon 450 which is successor to Snapdragon 430 chipset. This chipset is for budget oriented smartphones. This will bring many new features to the smartphones.

Snapdragon 450 is based on an octa core processor with eight cortex A-53 cores. We can say this chip as an other version of Snapdragon 625 chipset which is the mid ranger chip of last year. This chipset will be 25% faster in processing as compared to Snapdragon 430. This has Adreno 506 GPU which will help in performing graphic intensive tasks without any issues. It will enhance the gaming performance also. 



Snapdragon 450 is built on 14nm architecture which is very power efficient. So it will reduce the power consumption by 30% in smartphones. So the battery life of the smartphone will be improved and it's battery backup will be better. Also it supports quick charge 3.0 for fast charging. 



Snapdragon 450 has also support for dual rear camera system where both cameras can be of maximum of 13 megapixels each. This can support single camera upto 21MP. Also it has support for full hd video recording @ 60fps. Here there is no support for 4K video recording.

So these are some of the features of Snapdragon 450 chipset which will power the budget smartphones in future. This chip has some features common to Snapdragon 625 and some to Snapdragon 430. So it will be interesting to see how this new chip actually performs.
