HTC launched two Phones with Bezeless screens

HTC has finally launched two of it's smartphones with larger aspect ratio displays. These two smartphones are  HTC Desire 12 and 12+. This is the first time HTC is launching any smartphone with taller screens. So let's see some of the features of the phones.
 
HTC Desire 12+
 
 
HTC Desire 12+ is having a screen size of 5.99" with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is IPS LCD type and has a resolution of 720*1440 pixels. The phone is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 450 chipset. The phone comes out of the box with Android Oreo 8.0. It has dual primary camera setup with 13MP+ 2MP lens. The front camera is of 8MP. It also has fingerprint sensor at back for unlocking the phone. Also there is face detection unlocking method. The phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. It also has micro SD card support. The phone comes with 2956 mAh battery. Also it comes in two memory options that are Black and Silver. The price of this phone starts at €235.
 
HTC Desire 12
 
 
HTC Desire 12 is the small sibling of it's Desire 12+. The phone has a screen size of 5.5". It also comes with the 18:9 aspect ratio display. The resolution of the display is 720*1440 pixels and this display is of IPS LCD type. The phone is powered by Mediatek 6739 chipset. It also comes with Android Oreo 8.0. It has a single primary camera of 13MP and a 5MP front camera. This phone isn't having any fingerprint scanner. But this also has face detection unlocking. This comes with 2730mAh battery. It comes in two versions 16/32GB internal and 2/3GB RAM. The phone has two color options Black and silver. The price of this phone starts at €185.
 
 Both these phones are mid range phones from the company. The pricing of these phones is somewhat okay. But the smaller one isn't having any fingerprint scanner as well as dual camera setup. Launching a phone at this price without fingerprint sensor is not acceptable. So company should think about all it's features and pricing before launching any smartphone in the market.

Mario's icon will be shown in place of our location in Google Maps for a week

All of us are very well familiar the famous Nintendo's character Mario. Nintendo is a Japanese video game company which is very much famous for it's games like Mario, Pokemon, Zelda and many more. But the most famous among these is Mario. Today is March10, it's the anniversary of Nintendo's most famous game Mario. Mario is named according to it's release date that is MAR10, but it is pronounced Mario all over the world.
 
On the occasion of Mario's anniversary, Google has done some changes in it's Google Maps. In Google Maps our location will be shown by an icon of Mario character. Now in place of Blue Arrow there will be Mario character sitting in the car. This is available in the navigation mode only.
 
 
To get this feature on your Google Maps you just have to do the following things. Firstly you have to update your Google Maps to the latest version. Then you have to type some place to navigate. In the side of 'Start' button you will notice a grey '?'. You just have to tap on that '?' and a sound will appear similar to that in the Mario game when we press up button. After doing this, a message will be displayed on your screen: Oh Yeah! Mario Time! With a "Let's-A-Go" Navigation button.
 
This is a really fun feature from Google and Nintendo on the birthday of Mario. As you will move towards your destination the Mario character will also move in it's car. This Mario icon will stay in your Google Maps for one week starting from today. Also this feature will only work with car mode selected as mode of traveling.

Google Lens is rolling out to every Android User via Google Photos

Google Lens is now available to every Android user
 
 
Last year Google announced Google Lens during Google I/O 2017 event. But it was first implemented in Google Pixel 2 in October. From last year October to now it was only exclusive to Google Pixel devices. And now Google has made this feature available for all the android users.
 
 Google Lens is just like a visual search engine. As the name suggest it works with the camera of phone. Google Lens gives information regarding the object or thing in the frame of camera. If we take our camera in front of any object it searches it on web and tells us about that. For example if we are at place about where we don't know anything, if we place our phone in front of any landmark with Google Lens open it will tell us about that place by searching about it on the web. So it is really helpful.
 
 
It can also do many other things. If we use it on something written it will read all the things and tell us about it from information on web. Also it can translate anything written in other language in our language. It can also scan QR codes. It can also read any business card and can save the contact information in our phone own it's own. It can also connect to a WiFi network when we show it WiFi label containing username and password. We can also use it on animals to know about their breed and other information.
 
Earlier Google Lens was only available on Pixel devices but now Google has made it available in all android devices via Google Photos. You just have to download the latest version of Google Photos on your phone and you can use this on your phone.
There are also many other things like Google Lens in the market like Bixby Vision announced with Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ and Image Analysis Toolset available on Play Store.

Fast Charging in Smartphones


Today in the whole world, shipment of smartphones has increased a lot. It is from 2007 that the smartphones are becoming more and more famous. And now in 2018, each person has it's own smartphone. Smartphone has battery which gives power to it. And this battery is rechargeable, we can recharge it if our phone runs out of battery. These batteries have certain capacity which is measured in mAh.
 
Earlier our phone usage was really less so battery capacity was also less, but as companies added more features in phones, our phone usage increases. More usage means faster drain out of battery. So batteries started draining out quickly and we have to recharge it more often in a day. So companies started fitting larger capacity batteries in the phone. Now the battery life of the phone had increased but a new problem occurred.

 
 These larger batteries take longer time to charge. So companies introduced a new technology named fast charging. This can charge these larger batteries quicker than earlier.  For the phone to support this fast charging it's hardware should be compatible. For this fast charging, companies are bundling a fast charger in the box with the phone. Every charger has a power rating which is the multiplication of current and voltage supplied by this charger to the phone, and is measured in watts. 
 
Smartphone brands thought if we increase the power rating of the charger it will supply more power to the phone during some particular time provided the hardware of the phone supports. And so the battery of the phone will fill up quickly. This power rating is simply the multiplication of current and voltage, which can be raised by increasing either current or voltage. So some technologies increase current while some increase voltage for fast charging.

 
 There are many fast charging technologies in the market like Qualcomm's Quick charging, Oneplus Dash charging, Oppo's VOOC charging and many more. So a phone running on Qualcomm's snapdragon chip may support fast charging depending on the version of the chip. Every phone has a specific power rating at which it's battery can be charged. So when we connect a phone with a charger it communicates with the phone that I have this power rating and thus the charger supplies that much power to the phone. So if the phone's hardware has fast charging support it will take more power from the fast charger and it's battery will be charged quickly.
 
We must have noticed that when our phone's battery is low it gets charged very quickly but as the battery level rises the rate of battery charging becomes slow and when the battery reaches 85%-90% the battery charging becomes super slow. This is because when the battery is empty, there is lot of space in it so the fast charger takes advantage of this and fill up the battery quickly with the help of larger power. But as the battery starts filling, the space becomes less available and rate of charging also gets down, so the power supplied also changes. So this is how fast charging works.


 
 As already mentioned there are many fast charging technologies in the market namely Oppo VOOC, Oneplus dash and Qualcomm's Quick charging. Oppo VOOC and dash charging works on same concept as Oppo is the parent company of Oneplus that is more current supply for fast charging. While Qualcomm's Quick charge increases voltage for fast charging. Oneplus dash charging has the maximum rating of 5V/4A which equals to 20W while Quick charge has maximum output of 18W with 9V/2A or 12V/1.67A.
 
Among all these Oneplus Dash charging is fastest, it can charge the phone from 0 to 63% in 30 minutes. And the phone will be fully charged in 1hr15 minutes. It achieves fast charging with the help of high current and so the cable of the charger is made thicker to bear the high current. Thus the use of any other cable with this charger may result in damage of the cable or phone. So it only charges phone quickly with it's own supplied cable.

 
 When we do some task on our phone our phone processor heats up due to the load of that task. When the battery is charging, phone also heats up due to higher power input in the phone. So when we uses the phone while it is charging the net heat will increase resulting in more heating. So the phone can damage with more heat. But it never happens. When we use our phone while it is charging, the charger put less power input in the phone depending on the tasks running on the phone so that there won't be any excessive heating which can damage the phone.

Flagship Artificial Intelligence features coming to mid range phones

In today's world the most hot topic in the technology is Artificial Intelligence which means that devices to have their own intelligence. It means that devices to adapt according to our preferences, whatever we do on our device, it should keep an eye on it and next time when we will do the same work the device should remember our preference and should assist us in completing the task more easily.
 
So these days the tech companies are making the devices more smart by giving this Artificial Intelligence feature. Every device runs with the help of processor which is the brain of any device, so this processor should be fast enough to support this Artificial Intelligence. Qualcomm is the major chipset company for smartphones. Many of the smartphone brands prefer to go with Qualcomm's snapdragon chipsets.


Qualcomm's snapdragon chipsets mainly come in three series 400, 600 and 800. Budget phones have 400 series, Mid rangers have 600 and Flagships use 800 series. As 800 series is used by Flagships, it means that this has the best capability of Artificial intelligence. On the other hand snapdragon 600 series is comparatively weaker in Artificial Intelligence.
 
So Qualcomm has introduced a new series of chipsets known as Snapdragon 700 which will have AI capabilities equivalent to 800 series. This 700 series will have Kryo cores and an Adreno GPU. This will be twice as fast compared to 600 series in AI capabilities. This includes many tasks ranging from machine learning to speech recognition. Also there will be enhancements in camera.

This snapdragon 700 series chip will be present in mid ranger smartphones. Also there will be battery enhancements in the phones. The power consumption will be less as compared to 600 series. Also it will support fast charging which translates to 50% full in 15 minutes.

MWC 2018: All The Smartphones

 
 MWC or Mobile World Congress is already over and in MWC 2018, we saw many new smartphones, many new technologies, some concept products and some other new projects. Various companies participate this year in Mobile World Congress. Nokia, Samsung, Asus, Sony and LG launch their smartphones at MWC 2018. So today we will cover all the smartphones which were launched during these whole fest.
 
LG

 
 At MWC this year LG didn't launch a new flagship unlike it generally do. Instead LG relaunched upgraded version of LG V30 known as LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ ThinQ. These upgraded version has upgraded memory and some AI camera things which is missing in original LG V30, all other things are same as LG V30.  LG V30S ThinQ has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal storage and V30S+ ThinQ is having 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Also there is some AI features in the camera of phone. It is having AI-CAM which can set the camera settings by analyzing the scene to be captured. So the camera is now smart enough to set the camera settings own it's own. This new feature is only possible due to Artificial Intelligence present in the phone. Also it has QLens which can tell us about the object in the camera frame, it's pricing, shopping and image searching. It can also scan the QR codes. This QLens is similar to Google Lens.


Rest of the specifications are similar to LG V30 in both of the phones. The phones are having the same design as that of LG V30 with the same 18:9 aspect ratio display and same metal and glass design. The screen is having 6.0" size. Also both the phones are having exactly same dimensions and weight. On front the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. But now they come in different colors, LG introduced two new colors for these phones that are Moroccan Blue and Platinum Gray.

LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ ThinQ both are powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 835 chipset just same as LG V30. They are not having the new chipset from Qualcomm that is snapdragon 845. The two phones are also having the same camera setup that is Dual 16MP(f/1.6, OIS) + 13MP(f/1.9) wide angle lens. There is a 5MP shooter in the front for good selfies. The two phones are having the same battery of 3300mah. So these are features of the brand new LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ ThinQ.

Samsung


Just like every year Samsung launched it's new flagship phones at MWC. This year Samsung launched Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at MWC event. Both these phones are the best phones from Samsung till date. So let's see what these phones have so unique that they are best phones of Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have the exactly same design as that of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. Both these phones have the same type of infinity displays. The displays are of AMOLED type with 2K resolution. They have same metal and glass design. The screen size is also same with 5.8" for S9 and 6.2" for S9+. But one thing is different in design of S9 and S9+ that is they both are having the fingerprint scanner below the rear camera module unlike Samsung S8 and S8+ which have fingerprint scanner beside the rear camera.

Both the phones come in two version of chips, with one having Qualcomm's snapdragon 845 chip while other one with Exynos 8890 chip. Snapdragon version will only be available in China and US while rest of the world will get Exynos version. But the very interesting feature of both these phones is it's camera. Now the primary camera lens of the phone has a variable aperture f/2.4 or f/1.5. The main thing is that the camera adjust the aperture own it's own according to the lightening conditions. Samsung Galaxy S9+ has dual camera setup with one being a simple lens and other being a telephoto lens while S9 has single camera setup. The front camera is same in both the phones.

The phone also comes with a new feature know as AREMOJI just like Apple iPhone X's Animoji. Also there is a new camera AI feature like Google Lens in the phones. Samsung Galaxy S9 has 3000mah battery while S9+ is having 3500mah battery. The pricing is still unknown for these phones but the pre booking has already started for the phones.

Nokia


Nokia made a comeback last year with it's new android devices and this year company rocked MWC with it's five new phones. Among these five phones, the four are smartphones and the fifth one is a feature phone. These five phones are called Nokia 1, Nokia 8110, Nokia 6(2018), Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 8 sirocco.

Nokia 1 is the first phone under Google's Android Oreo (Go edition). This phone has very basic hardware to run this Operating System Android Oreo (Go Edition). The phone is aimed at giving android taste to very affordable phones with high performance. This phone comes with Google's Go edition apps. Google has many Go edition apps already on play store like YouTube Go, Files Go, Google Go and many more. These apps take less storage and uses less RAM as compared to their parent apps. The phone will be priced something around $90.

Next phone is Nokia 6(2018) which the company has already launched in China but at MWC Nokia launched it globally. The phone has the same design as that of previous version of Nokia 6. The device is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 630 chipset which is a very good chip. The phone comes out of the box with Android Oreo 8.0. Also the camera is same as the previous version of Nokia 6 but now it is having Carl Zeiss optics which will improve the quality of photos. It is having a 3000mah battery. The price of the phone will be around $300.  

Nokia also launched Nokia 7 plus at the event. Nokia 7 plus is the successor to Nokia 7. This is the first device from Nokia to have a thinner bezels and having a display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is having a 6.0" tall screen with FHD+ resolution. The phone is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 660 chipset which is a good chip. It is having a dual camera setup of 12MP with one being a telephoto lens and it also has support of Carl Zeiss. It also has Bothie feature which earlier was only present on Nokia 8. It is having a 3800mah battery. This phone also comes out of the box with Android Oreo. Nokia 7 plus is priced something around €400.

Now it's time for the flagship phone from the company that is Nokia 8 sirocco. Nokia 8 sirocco has the stainless steel body. The phone is having a screen size of 5.5". The edges of Nokia 8 sirocco are bent just like Samsung S series phones. But the aspect ratio of the display is just 16:9. This display has 2K resolution. The phone is powered by old Qualcomm's snapdragon 835 chipset. The camera on Nokia 8 sirocco is same as that of Nokia 7 plus. The battery on Nokia 8 sirocco is a 3260mah battery. The phone will be priced something around €750.

The last one is a feature phone from the company. This feature phone is called Nokia 8110 4G. As the name suggests it is having 4G connectivity. It is successor of Nokia 8119 which was launched earlier in 1996. Nokia 8110 is in the shape of Banana that's why it comes in yellow color. Although there is one more color that is Black. Nokia 8110 is having 2.4" QVGA display, 4GB internal storage and 1500mah battery. It is having a 2MP camera at the back. It also has FM radio. The phone will be priced around €79.

Sony


While many of the smartphone companies withdrew their launch events from MWC 2018 due to Samsung's event, Sony launched it's new flagship phones at MWC 2018. These flagship phones are called Sony XZ2 AND XZ2 compact. Both these phones have a fresh new 'Ambient Flow Design'. They have aluminum frame and polycarbonate back. Sony Xperia XZ2 has a screen size of 5.7" and Xperia XZ2 compact has screen size of 5.0" with FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

Both the phones are powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 845 chipset which also powers the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. Both the phones have the same type of camera  that is 19MP f/2.0 lens and a front camera of 5MP f/2.2 lens. This camera can record slow motion 1080p videos @960fps while Samsung S9 can only record 720p @960fps slomo videos. Sony is still using a single camera setup while all other flagship phones have dual camera setup. The phone comes out of the box with Android 8.0 Oreo.

Sony XZ2 and Sony XZ2 compact both come with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the memory can also be expanded via micro SD upto 400GB. Sony XZ2 has a 3180mah battery while Sony XZ2 compact has 2870mah battery.

Asus


Asus launched many new smartphones at MWC this year. Asus actually launched four smartphones at MWC 2018 which are Asus Zenfone 5z, Asus Zenfone 5, Asus Zenfone Lite and Asus Zenfone M1. Among which Zenfone 5z and 5 are high end phones while, Zenfone 5 lite is a mid ranger and Zenfone M1 is a budget smartphone. So let's see some of the features of all these smartphones.

Asus Zenfone 5 and 5z are quite similar phones. Only the thing which is different is their chipset and memory configuration, all other things are similar in both of the smartphones. Asus Zenfone 5 is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 636 chipset which is also present in Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro. Asus Zenfone 5z is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 845 chipset which is present in Samsung S9.

The most interesting thing about these phones is their design which is same as that present on iPhone X. It is a having glass design at back. It is also having notch at the top of the phone just like iPhone X. The bezels of the phone are really small. The screen size is 6.2" and it has an aspect ratio of 19:9. The display is a full HD IPS LCD type. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on front and back. The rear camera is 12MP, f/1.8 +8MP wide angle lens and front camera is a 8MP, f/2.0 shooter. The phones have 3300mah battery.

Another phone which Asus launched at MWC 2018 is Asus Zenfone 5 lite. This phone has a screen size of 6.0". The phone has aluminum frame and glass back. On front it has 2.5D glass. The display is IPS LCD type with 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is having dual camera setup on front as well as back. The phone is having a 16MP f/2.2+ 8MP wide angle lens rear camera setup and 20MP f/2.0+ wide angle lens front camera setup. It comes in two versions, one having Qualcomm's snapdragon 430 chip while other having Qualcomm's snapdragon 630 chip. The phone comes out of the box with Android 8.0 Oreo. It has a 3300mah battery.

Asus also launched Asus Zenfone Max(M1) at MWC. The phone is having an aluminum design. The size of screen is 5.5" . The display is 720p IPS LCD display with 16:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes in two versions one with Qualcomm's snapdragon 425 chip and other with snapdragon 430 chip. It comes in 2/3GB, 16/32GB memory configuration. The phone comes with 4000mah battery. Zenfone 5 lite has a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera and 8MP f/2.0 secondary camera.
