Xioami Redmi S2

Xiaomi Redmi S2
Xiaomi has unveiled yet another smartphone in it's Redmi series. Xiaomi is launching a lot of smartphones in it's Redmi series. Redmi series is the most affordable series from Xiaomi. In Redmi series we have Redmi note series, basic Redmi series and Redmi Y series. And now it's time for S series. Xiaomi launched Xioami Redmi S2 today in an event in china. The company is saying that this phone lies between Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5. So let's see some of the specs of the phone.
Redmi S2 is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 625 chipset which is an octa core chip having with each core cloaked at 2.0 GHz. This snapdragon 625 is more or less same as snapdragon 630. You won't notice any difference in performance between the two. The phone comes out of the box with Android 8.1 Oreo. The OS is based on MIUI 9.5.
Redmi S2 has a 5.99" IPS LCD panel on front which has a resolution of 720*1440 pixels. The aspect ratio of the screen is 18:9. This phone doesn't have a Full HD+ panel. The phone has the same metallic build just like Redmi Note 5.
The most interesting feature of Redmi S2 is it's camera department. It has 16MP AI powered front camera with 2 micron pixels, combining four single pixels into one single oversized pixel. The front camera also supports AI portrait mode and AI smart beauty. The rear camera is dual camera setup with 12MP+5MP, f/2.2. It also supports EIS and has phase detection autofocus. This can record videos upto 1080p @30fps.
Redmi S2 has fingerprint sensor and face recognition for face unlocking. The phone comes in two memory specifications 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. This has a battery of 3080 mah. It doesn't support any fast charging, it only supports 10W charging. The phone comes in three colors that are Rose gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver. Redmi S2 is priced at $160 for 32GB model and $170 for 64GB. The phone is only available in China and there is no word from Xioami about it's global availability.
But Xioami has confused all with the launch of this phone. It's name is Redmi S2, all were expecting that this S2 represents Surge S2 which is Xioami's self built chip. This means that all were expecting that this will be powered by Surge S2, but this is not the case, the phone is powered by Qualcomm's snapdragon 625 SOC. I think earlier Xioami has plans to power Redmi S2 with Surge S2 but later on the company dropped it due to some problem with Surge S2.
